The Wanderer W24 car is restored by President Pranab Mukherjee on the 60th Anniversary of Netaji research Bureau in Kolkata. When British Army surrounded Netaji Subash Chandra Bose in 1941, he was house arrested. But he intelligently escaped from the British Army in this car. After managing to escape from British Army, Netaji drove in this car all the way to Gomoh railway station. From there he reached Delhi by train.

It has been 76 years since this incident happened and now the wanderer w24 car is restored once again. Sugata Bose and Netaji’s Grand Nephew were present at the ceremony. It was Sugata’s father who helped Netaji in getting escape from the British Army. Pranab Mukherjee praised Sugata’s father for his bravery and courage which helped Netaji at crucial time. It was sisir kumar, the father of Sugata who drove the wanderer w24 car with Netaji.

The wanderer w24 is a 1939 sedan model and was modified back to its 1941 look. Krishna Bose along with Audi team from Kolkata has made several changes and made a neat royal 1941 look. This was the favorite car of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. The wanderer w24 car bearded the registration number BLA 7169 which got a national recognition. Krishna Bose has also replaced certain worn out parts in the car and painted the car for getting new look.

The wanderer w24 car is manufactured by a German company Auto Union Group in 1939. The wanderer w24 car supports a 1767cc engine with 42 hp power at 3,500 rpm. It comes with 4 speed manual transmission which can hit 110kmph top speed and has a fuel capacity of 40 liters. As it was used in a great event by Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, the Wanderer w24 car was kept in display at Netaji Research Bureau.
