SAIC to enter Indian automobile market: First ever Chinese automaker to hit the Indian roads SAIC is one of the leading car maker in China and recently it hired Rajeev as new CEO who is Ex head of General Motors in India. SAIC also appointed few other people to manage the human resources, IT, purchase, finance and heads for few other departments as well.
SAIC is in plans to acquire the General Motors plant in Gujarat and chances are it would use sales network of General Motors. According to few sources, General Motors and SAIC are still in discussions on sale of plant in Gujarat and almost everything is set for partnering of the two companies. The Halol plant has a capacity to produce over 110,000 cars in just one year.
The Chine car manufacturer also involves in various aspects like service trade and technical, investment, training and consulting as well. However SAIC need permission from Competition Commission of India (CCI) for any merger or acquisition in India. SAIC and General motors have already partnered for carrying their operations in China and now SAIC would like to enter into Indian Market with the help of General Motors.
However if everything goes perfect then SAIC would start its first production line starting with SUV based fuel efficient cars. But we have to wait and see how the Indian automobile market and people would welcome the Chinese Company. SAIC should come up with some extraordinary features car to hit the Indian roads. The price of the cars will be ranged according to the Indian economy.
