The Marathi film producer Atul Tapkir committed suicide in a hotel room. The Marathi film industry was shocked with this tragedy. Atul Tapkir produced a Marathi movie called Dhol Taashe in the year 2015. Unfortunately the film turned out as a disaster and he went in to losses. Atul Tapkir was distressed and faced several financial problems.
Deccan Gymkhana police reports, Atul Tapkir is from pimple saudagar and few days back he checked-in to a hotel. He was staying in the hotel for couple of days. The police came to about the incident when they receaived a call from hotel management stating that Atul Thapkir was not opening the door. The hotel manager got doubt as Atul didn’t leave the room for couple of days.
When the hotel boy went to have a look, atul didn’t open the door when the hotel boy knocked the door. Atul Thapkir was dead already. At the same time when police got call from hotel management, a friend of Atul approached police stating that atul’s last location was in the same area.
Police along with Atul’s friend went to the hotel and broke into Atul’s room and they were shocked. Atul Tapkir was lying on bed in unconscious state and there was foam on his mouth. He was rushed to nearby hospital and doctors announced that he was dead already. Atul consumed poison which killed him and the post-mortem report stated that Atul has drunk too much alcohol before consuming poison.
Atul Tapkir posted in Facebook too about his suicide attempt before dying. Atul Tapkir wrote, “The film may have bought recognition but at the same time it brought losses and I was in debt. My father and sister supported me during the hard times but my wife started harassing me and later even her brother started harassing”.
Raj Anjute who is the co-producer of Dhol Taashe said “we have already discussed about the losses and I advised him to move on. But I never thought he would take this decision”.
