Facebook Messenger to stop working on Windows phone 8 and 8.1

Facebook Messenger new update

If you are still using windows powered 8 and 8.1 smartphones then you cannot use Facebook’s messenger anymore. Facebook has announced that it won’t support Windows 8 and 8.1 phones for messenger. Earlier skype has withdrawn its services to these OSes and now even Facebook’s messenger also joined skype. Facebook has already informed the users who are still using windows 8 and 8.1 phones to upgrade their device or OS.

Facebook has sent emails to the users that they will end their support by the end of this month. However this may not affect Facebook as the percentage of users who are using windows 8 and 8.1 are just 1%. That means these users will not play any role in the facebook’s messenger.

The users should upgrade to windows 10 as soon as possible if they want to enjoy the messenger services. Facebook messenger is available for windows 10 users as usual and there are no changes in that. This may be a bit disappointing to the low-end window phone users as they can’t update to windows 10 version.

Facebook has sent emails to the windows 8 and 8.1 users saying “Thank you for using Messenger but we regret to inform you that the current messenger you are using is no longer supported by Facebook from April 1st. You cannot text or receive messages on this version. You have to update to windows 10 version to enjoy our services”.
