Two-wheelers and cars have already got Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Automatic speed transmission technology is getting a good response from the customers. Now even trucks and buses are moving towards AMT technology. The commercial vehicles will now feature automatic gear box. Commercial vehicles giant, Eicher is the first one to start AMT vehicles.
AMT can be used in LMD and HD buses starting from 9T to 16T. As of now Eicher is planning to introduce this technology in haulage trucks and commercial vehicles. WABCO OptiDrive can improve fuel economy and also helps in reducing heavy emissions. This will also helpful for environment and also for the people.
This is the first time ever in India to use AMT in trucks and buses and Eicher will also offer vehicles with automatic gear box at affordable price. MD & CEO of Eicher, Vinod stated that “This is really a pride moment for us and is a breakthrough in the commercial vehicles segment. Eicher already has a good brand image in the market as our vehicles are fuel efficient and quality vehicles”.
The introduction of AMT in Eicher’s commercial vehicles will improve its sales to a great extent. Now the drivers can concentrate on roads and traffic instead of changing gears constantly. WABCO has partnered with Eicher for developing AMT vehicles. In other countries AMT trucks are already being used and now even India is also part of it. This will improve the commercial vehicles industry.
Eicher will roll out this new technology in stages. At first it will release Pro 3016 AMT, Pro Skyline – MIDI AMT and 20.15BS4 HD bus. All these new AMT vehicles will be produced in Madhya Pradesh plant. However the release date and the price of new AMT Eicher vehicles are not yet announced by the company.
